The renowned Sufi poet and spiritual thinker Syed Abdullah Shah Qadri, popularly known as “Baba Bulleh Shah,” encourages his disciples to stop looking elsewhere and instead look within themselves, for it is in one’s own heart that the Eternal Divinity resides.

Some of his well-known literary works, such as Mera Piya Ghar Aya and Dama Dam Mast Qalandar, have been beautifully performed by Runa Laila and others.

I am sharing one here – 

You have read thousands of books,
But never tried to read your own self.

You rush to temples and mosques,
But never tried to enter your own heart. 

You fight the devil (Satan) every day,
But never fought your own ego.

Oh Peer, you reach for the stars,
But fail to grasp the light within your soul.
