229. Jenny, I got your number
The phone number from the classic Tommy Tutone song "867-5309/Jenny” is now used to connect callers to a cancer support line, with an advertisement that says it's time for music’s most famous digits to "do some good.”
The Cancer Support Community (CSC) launched the campaign on Instagram with a series of posts. These highlight a song about a man nervously contemplating calling a woman named Jenny, whose number is written on a bathroom wall.
One of the posts stated, "The number you and your friends sing at karaoke is now the number for cancer support," with a 1980s rock classic playing loudly in the background.
The song was written by Alexander Call and James Keller. Read here the full song -
Jenny, Jenny, who can I turn to?
You give me somethin' I can hold on to
I know you think I'm like the others before
Who saw your name and number on the wall
Jenny, I got your number
I need to make you mine
Jenny, don't change your number
867-5309 (867-5309)
Jenny, Jenny, you're the girl for me
Oh, you don't know me, but you make me so happy
I tried to call you before, but I lost my nerve
I tried my imagination, but I was disturbed
Jenny, I got your number
I need to make you mine
Jenny, don't change your number
867-5309 (867-5309)
I got it, I got it (I got it)
I got your number on the wall
I got it, I got it (I got it)
For a good time, for a good time call
Hey
Jenny, don't change your number
I need to make you mine
Jenny, I called your number
867-5309 (867-5309)
Jenny, Jenny, who can I turn to?
For the price of a dime, I can always turn to you
867-5309 (867-5309)
